September News and Reminders
The first week of classes went very well...even with all of the congestion and
confusion of registration. The second week has already been much calmer
and less hectic. The children are becoming used to their new teachers, and
we have all been learning new things and enjoying each other. We have
finally made progress with the new studio and have broken ground. We
anticipate a move around the holidays...please cross your fingers for good
weather and good luck with the building! The children are all very
excited about having a new studio...and they deserve it!
First pizza party next week!
Next Friday (September 27th) will be our first "Parents Night Out"
pizza party for children 5-12 years old. Parents can drop their kids off
(boys or girls) at 6:00 for pizza and organized activities. Enjoy an
evening out without having to drive a babysitter to and from your house...and
without completely depleting your food supply. Reservations are required
at least 3 days in advance, and space will be limited. The fee for the
pizza night will be $25 per child (including pizza) and the pick up time is
10:00. You may call or email me for reservations. Payment is due to
reserve a spot.
Sign in!!!!!
Most of you are getting used to signing in at the door. This is to keep
the teachers focused on teaching and not having to take attendance. This
also gives us a good record of your attendance and we can check for makeup
lessons very easily. Please remember to sign in as soon as you walk in the
door.
Fundraiser Due September 26th
Please turn in your fundraiser sheets to the front desk by
September 26th. Delivery is
scheduled for October 26th between 8am and noon. Money does not need to be collected until
the items are delivered. Please have
your customers make checks payable to Springfield Dance and double check cash
and keep each custumer’s cash separated with their name on it so that we can
track the money. All money is due
November 2nd. Credits will
be reported by the following week so that Recital money can be turned in. The approximate percentage for fundraiser
profits is 25%. Some items are more and
some are less…they will give me the break down. Please call with questions.
Office Assistant Needed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you or anyone you know is interested in part time employment, I am
looking for a part time office assistant. The hours would be 4-9 Monday
through Thursday and possibly for a couple of hours during the day on Monday
and Tuesday. Please call or email for serious inquiries.
Payment Procedures
Payments are due by the 15th of the preceding month. Payments not
received by the 1st of the month are subject to a $10 late fee. Any
cancellations must be reported before the 1st of the month to avoid billing
charges. Gymnastics classes will be charged separately from the dance
classes, and will not be included in dance class hourly rate or unlimited dance
classes. Gymnastics classes will follow the same fee schedule as the
dance classes and a $5 monthly discount will be given to students signed up for
both dance and gymnastics.
Drop-off/Pick-up Procedures
Since we had planned on being in the new building by September 1st, we have
had to make some small renovations in our current location, and therefore there
is no longer a dressing room. Please bring your children to class wearing
their dance attire and keep shoes in a small bag that will be taken into the
dance room with them. Please do not drop your children off more than 5
minutes prior to the start of their class, since we no longer have a place for
them to sit and wait. They will be brought into the danceroom 5 minutes
before the start of class to keep the hallway clear. When dropping off
your child, please come in the East drive and then drive around the building
and exit the West drive. This will avoid parking lot
congestion. Parents may bring small children into the studio and
get them to their class, but again, please do not arrive more than 5 minutes
prior to the start of class. When picking up your child please arrive on
time. If a parent is excessively late to pick up their child (more than 2
times), a $15 fee will be charged for each instance after the 3rd
offense. If you are late, your child will be waiting in the office.
Congratulations!
This year, we had 42 of the 63 children successfully audition for the
Springfield Ballet Company production of The Nutcracker! Over 100
children tried out, and many were dissappointed. Some children made it
last year, and didn't this year, and others didn't make it last year and did
this year. I had to audition dancers for my Rockballet piece this year,
and it was very hard to choose 9 out of 15! I can't even imagine how hard
it would be to choose 63 out of 150! For those of you who made it, congradulations!
Those of you who did not make it this year, try again. Sometimes it takes
several times to get in...but you are all beautiful dancers! We also
secured the lead roles this year: Allison Hebron will again dance Clara,
Elizabeth Chapman will dance Sugar Plum Fairy, Courtney Vorachek will dance
Snow Queen, and Caitlin Helton will dance Dew Drop. Many of our other
dancers are dancing in variations. Good luck to all of you!
